American poet of Jamaican origin. He went to the US at the age of 17. He studied at Columbia University and was professor of English at State University of New York at Stony Brook. His works include The Arrivistes: Poems 1940-1949, Good News of Death and Other Poems, A Dream of Governors, At the End of the Open Road, Adventures of the Letter I and Caviar at the Funeral.
